Edagaiye Apaghatakke Karana Review: A Gripping Tale That Goes Beyond Entertainment and Captures Heart

A Hit pair Diganth and Nidhi Subbaiah, beloved since their 2010 classic is back- but this time. It’s not a love story. They have returned with gripping black comedy-suspense drama that keeps every viewer on the edge of their seats.

Director Samarth Kadkol has done a great job in his debut project, his intense writing throughout the movie keeps everyone anticipated and guessing. From rib-tickling jokes to flabbergasting twists, this film has offered everything beyond expectations that it had created by trailer.

This movie presents all the consequences that an individual has to face for being a left hander in a world majorly filled with right-handers. Diganth, here, plays the role of lohit a leftie alongside Dhanu Harsha and Nidhi Subbaiah, and cameos from Nirup Bhandari and Radhika Narayan, brings an unexpected twist to an “accident” that has to be witnessed.

The kannada title, ‘Edagaiye Apaghatakke Karana’ translates to ‘Left hand is the cause of the accident’. The whole film is a series of mishaps that follow an accident. Lohith (Diganth) is a corporate employee with a work-from-home job, working a night shift. He is invited over on a date by Pooja (Nidhi) to her apartment but is asked to sneak in so her parents don’t find out.

So, now, Lohith is dealing with three deaths, a cop, Radhika (a ‘DJ Tillu’ joke), and “Casper”. To know the reason behind the accidents, you have to watch the film for a complete entertainer.

Edagaiye Apaghatakke Karana Review: A Gripping Tale That Goes Beyond Entertainment and Captures Heart

The whole movie is filled with entertainment but not a flawless one to rate high in the recent kannada films. The slow and linear narration in the first half forces the audience to be seated and anticipate a thrilling second half. The funny story with no melodramatic emotions or social messaging sticks to its genre and offers complete entertainment.

True story unfurls in the send half of the movie with more twists and turns than expected, as it gathers pace from the first half.  But the director’s failure in execution of the scene that adds value to the movie is clearly visible on the big screen.

Cinematography by Abhimanyu Sadanandan and editing by Praveen Shivanna stand out in the film, making it technically appealing as well. The film keeps a good balance—it doesn’t get too commercial, but it also doesn’t get too caught up in complicated storytelling.

To everyone expecting an entertainer with spine shilling twists and jaw dropping turns, Edagaiye Apaghatakke Karana is highly recommended.
